JAG (Johannesburg Art Gallery)
This trip and the exhibitions took me back to my ancestoral roots. Being in the storages and the whole museum connected me so much to my roots, my history and gave me a lot more knowledge about myself. This experience was for school but it taught me a lot about myself and about my race and culture

This picture speaks a thousand words on the ability of African people creating and using technology

I loved this artifact because firstly I’ve seen it before on display sometime last year but mostly because this exposses African intellect and creativity. I don’t know what exactly I can describe this box as but it is an amazing work of art

Wits Arts Museum
This experience was one of a kind especially because we were allowed into the storage rooms of the museum. This was amazing because I pass the museum everyday but I have never thought that there could be such a thing called a store or a storage room for artifacts which made my experience an unforgettable one
Historical object

Contemporary object
Umshanyelo or a broom. This both a historical and contemporary object. This broom is strictly for outdoor use but it is still found today although most modern day houses having pavings

Ritual Object
This ritual object is named a headrest. This was used in ancient times as a pillow. It was placed directly on the ground to connect the owner of the headrest to his or her ancestors. Additionally they would pour snuff on the ground to awaken them and to speak to them.
